England white-ball skipper Eoin Morgan, who led the Kolkata Knight Riders to the finals of the IPL 2021, found no bidders surprisingly on the second day of the ongoing IPL 2022 mega auction. Morgan came under the category of overseas capped players in the second set on day Two and with teams looking out for captaincy, he was expected to be on the radar of a lot of franchises.

However, Morgan’s IPL numbers over the years haven’t been as good and he has faltered a lot more times. He has played for various franchises in the past including the Royal Challengers Bangalore, Kings XI Punjab and the Sunrisers Hyderabad. Although Morgan could still come up during the accelerated round, he might not be the first priority for the teams as only four overseas slots are available in the playing XI.
The left-hander is one of the sharpest minds going around in terms of captaincy and has a cool head above his shoulders always. He led England to their first-ever World Cup victory in 2019 and has proved to be one of the all-time greatest white ball skippers. However, his batting skills have been going through a downward curve in the last few months.
Eoin Morgan’s recent numbers in T20s
The 35-year-old was not in the best of touches for England in the T20 World Cup 2021, and he managed just 133 runs in 17 innings at an average of 11.08 in IPL 2021. He still remains one of the prolific six hitters around the world and can change a game very quickly on its head with his finishing abilities.
Morgan made his IPL debut in 2010, and has played 83 IPL games so far. He has scored 1405 runs at an average of 22.7 and a strike rate of 122.6 with five fifties and has not managed to replicate that form. Hence, the faith on him has decreased. However, Morgan and Brendon McCullum have worked out really well in the KKR set up and it was a huge effort towards the later half to make it to the playoffs.
Here’s how Twitter reacted to Eoin Morgan going unsold
Eoin Morgan unsold too.

So the fact that he hasn't scored enough runs means #KKR have moved on past the captain who took them to the final last year. #EoinMorgan

Eoin Morgan unsold is a bit surprising. Poor form last season but at that base price his experience is invaluable. Especially when rebuilding your squad and beginning a new cycle.
Franchises, as always, know better. Will be interesting if brought back later. #IPLAuction

Eoin Morgan UNSOLD!.
If you bid for Eoin Morgan you don't only get Eoin Morgan but also his analyst that he carries with him.
He is a package, come on teams what are you doing..😂#IPLAuction #IPLMegaAuction2022#KKR— Holy Cricket Christ! (@CricketInsight3) February 13, 2022
I am surprised that @SunRisers did not bid for Eoin Morgan despite a pathetic middle order at 1.5 crore. Their strategy is laughable. Surely many will not support Hyderabad this year despite being a hyderabadi. Maybe Tom Moody waiting to flood in few Aussies. No thought process.
