Cricket West Indies (CWI) and Caribbean Premier League (CPL) joined hands and launched a brand new tournament called the 6IXTY to give the players a whole new experience of playing cricket. After the T20 style took the cricketing world by storm, ECB launched The Hundred to add more uniqueness to cricket. After the success of the franchise-based tournaments, CWI and CPL have launched a 60-ball tournament.

The newly-launched tournament will provide a unique experience for not just the players, but the viewers as well. The first edition of the competition will take place from August 24 to 28 at Warner Park in St. Kitts and Nevis. Six CPL men’s teams and three CPL women’s teams will compete in the 6IXTY’s debut season.

Here’s all you need to know about the The 6IXTY 2022:

6IXTY Tournament Rules:

The 10-over-per-side match will only have six wickets in each innings, that is the fall of the sixth wicket would put a closure to the innings. The batting side will get two powerplays, and they can avail a third between overs 3-9 if the batters manage to hit two sixes within the first 12 balls.

The innings will be played from two sides – the first 30 balls will be played from one end and the next 30 from the other end. No bowler may bowl more than two overs during the innings. The 30 deliveries will be distributed as five different overs. A player of the team will be taken off the field for the final six deliveries if teams fail to bowl their overs in the given time.

Another interesting rule of the tournament is the “Mystery Free Hit”, according to which a batter will get a lifeline and he/she cannot be dismissed by the bowler off that particular ball. The timing of the free hit will be decided by fan voting.
