India recently had a remarkable series against Australia where they fought all the odds to stand tall on the required occasions. The victory became even more special as the heroes of the game turned out to be youngsters and players with the least international experience. While Virat Kohli was on his paternity leave after the first game, senior players like Ravi Ashwin, Jasprit Bumrah, Umesh Yadav, etc, were caught in an injury trap.

The young names like Mohammed Siraj, Washington Sundar, Shardul Thakur, Shubman Gill, and Rishabh Pant came with all guns blazing at opponents. In the same light, people hailed the efforts of Rahul Dravid, who is currently the coach of India U-19 and A-team. An incredible player and former skipper of India, Dravid, has been putting in his all efforts to nurture the young talent and prepare them for the grand stage.

However, he recently stated that credit had to go to all the boys who did the job, and he is getting unnecessary recognition for the same.

“Ha, ha unnecessary credit, the boys deserve all the praise,” said Dravid in an interview with the Indian Express.

The A teams have a great guy like Rahul Dravid working with them: former national selector

Former National selector Jatin Paranjpe believes that Dravid has given his invaluable inputs at A-level where Ranji Trophies are being played, and it had created a lot of difference for players. He also added that a player like Dravid is coaching them at this level, and then they go in hands of someone as good as Ravi Shastri, so the transition has become too seamless.

“Before such tours, the support staff of the Indian team, A team, U-19 team, selectors, and Dravid discuss which bucket of players we want to concentrate on. The performances in the Ranji Trophy matter in the selection of the A-team. Mayank Agarwal and Vihari were picked from there. The A teams have a great guy like Dravid working with them, from where they go to someone as good as Shastri in the national team. It’s a seamless transition.” Paranjpe told the newspaper.

WV Raman, who had a coaching stint with India women’s cricket team added that Dravid believes in giving exposure to young talents rather than focusing on the result of the game.
