One of the things that the fans have missed in the past, even as the Indian fast bowling trio of Ishant Sharma, Mohammed Shami, and Umesh Yadav have wreaked havoc and the Men in Blue have steamrolled the opposition with disdain in traditional as well as the pink-ball Test, is the opportunity to watch Jasprit Bumrah steaming in and bamboozling the stumps- even sending them on a cartwheel on a few instances- on home soil.

Bumrah made his debut in Test series on India’s tour of South Africa in January 2018 but is yet to play a five-day game on home soil. But, even as the fans have to wait till January 2021 for Bumrah to finally make his Test debut in India when England come visiting for a five-match series, they wouldn’t have to wait for that long for India’s premier fast bowler’s return to international cricket.

Bumrah is slated to return in national colours during India’s tour of New Zealand in January-February 2020 and the fast bowler took to Twitter on Tuesday as to what awaits the fans and opposition batsmen when he eventually makes his comeback. Bumrah took to Twitter to post an image of a broken stump, which he captioned as, “The End.

Jasprit Bumrah ready to come back with a bang

Earlier, India’s outgoing chief-selector MSK Prasad had alluded that while they are still waiting for the final report on Bumrah, the premier fast bowler should make a comeback by the time New Zealand tour rolls around.

“He (Bumrah) is gradually getting back to full fitness, though we need to hear from the people working on his recovery. His return cannot be before next month as we are still waiting for a report on him. But of course, he is expected to be back for the New Zealand series,” MSK Prasad was quoted as saying in the Telegraph.

Before he was diagnosed with a lower-back injury, Bumrah was tearing apart batting units for fun. In the 12 Tests that Bumrah has played, the tearaway fast bowler has taken 62 wickets at an average of 19.24; which included a five-wicket haul in each of the four continents- Africa, Europe, Oceania and America (Caribbean)- the first Asian fast bowler to do so, and the fans will be hoping for much of the same as India aim to win their first Test series in New Zealand since 2009.
