<strong>The Failures; Flop XI of the IPL 2015: </strong>The eight edition of IPL is over now as the Mumbai Indians beat the Chennai Super Kings at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on the big night. It was an exciting tournament, where we saw a few new stars emerge at the dawn along with a few frozen stars of a different era, either struggling to get around or putting up an average show. There were some excellent performances witnessed throughout this season.

<strong>However some big names did not fire at all and they get into The Failures; Flop XI of the IPL 2015.</strong>

This Delhi opener was very disappointing this season. Virender Sehwag scored only 99 runs in the 8 matches he played at a very poor average of 12.37.  After finishing among the top run getters last year with 470 runs, Punjab team would have expected him to fire in this edition as well, but the right hander was dropped in the middle of the tournament due to non performance and poor form.

Punjab did an excellent job at the auction by getting him for 3 crores but Murali Vijay has had a forgettable season. Especially after having a good series against Australia, one would have expected more from this right hander. He has only managed to score 251 at an average of 22.81.

Yet another batsman from Kings XI Punjab makes into this list of below par performers. Maxwell was probably the worst failure of the IPL 2015, KXIP had lot of hopes tied to his performances and thus at the end of the league they find themselves at the bottom of the table with just 2 wins from 14 league matches. This big man from Australia, had an excellent outing last year, he had scored over 550 runs at a very healthy strike rate of 181. But this year hasn&#8217;t been productive at all. All Maxwell managed was 112 runs at a strike rate of 129, his highest being 43.

The wicket keeper batsman from Kerala has been one of the very promising youngsters for India. The 7th edition of IPL was very productive for this right hander. This made the RR team management, retain Samson but he has just scored around 204 runs with a poor average of 20.40. He has only managed to score only one half century and his highest score was 76.

Another wicket keeper batsman, who joins the list, is Dinesh Karthik. He was brought by Royal Challengers Bangalore for a huge amount of 10.5 crores. Karthik overall had a really dismal show, though he got off to a couple of good starts, he couldn&#8217;t capitalize on it. DK ended up scoring a mere 141 runs in 16 matches at a strike rate of 120, his highest being just 28.

This is the second consecutive time that Yuvraj Singh failed to make any notable impression with the IPL. He was brought the Delhi Daredevils for a huge sum of 16 crores. But Yuvi hardly made an impact in this season. He wasn&#8217;t at his best in IPL 2014 as well. Following which, he was dropped by RCB. Yuvraj has scored just 248 runs in 14 innings in IPL 2015 at a very poor average of 18. His highest score was 57.

This all rounder from Bangalore has played a huge impact in the fortunes of Rajasthan Royals especially in 2013 season where he scored 293 runs and picked up 6 wickets. Since then, Binny hasn&#8217;t performed up to the expectations. This year he has had a poor run, as he could just score 74 runs coupled with merely 4 wickets. RR surely missed his striking lower down the order and as a result, they were eliminated in the eliminator against RCB.

Another left handed all rounder makes into the under achievers list. He played a vital role in the last edition of the IPL by picking up 19 wickets. Ravindra Jadeja also made a sizable contribution with the bat. But this year, this southpaw has been completely out of form. Jaddu just picked 11 wickets at an economy of 7.73. He could not make an impact with the bat either.

After a good world cup campaign, Steyn was confident before coming to India to play the 8th edition of IPL. But, SRH decided to prefer Boult over Steyn in the initial stages of the tournament. Even when he got a chance to be a part of the playing XI, he couldn&#8217;t dominate the batsmen. Steyn went for plenty and therefore he makes into this list. The South African pacer has picked up only, 3 wickets in the 6 matches he played with an expensive economy of 8.94.

The 42 year old, leg spinner from Mumbai became a sensation since he joined Rajasthan in 2013. Pravin Tambe has provided more stability to the bowling department. Especially in the previous edition of IPL, he bagged 15 scalps and was one among the leading wicket takers. But this year Tambe has been pretty ordinary with the ball. He was able to take only 7 wickets in the 10 matches he played at an economy of 7.8. The collective failure of the bowlers made it hard for RR to win the eliminator.

He is surely one of the most under rated pacers in India, having played first 3 seasons for RCB, he was brought by Kochi for the fourth season and then he came back to RCB. Vinay was terrific with the ball in the 2012 IPL, as he picked up 19 wickets in the 15 matches. He was traded off to Mumbai, ahead of the 8th IPL. Vinay did not prove to be as much effective this season. He has just picked up 7 wickets with an economy rate of 8.5. Thus he makes into this list.

<p>The wicket keeper batsman from Kerala has been one of the very promising youngsters for India. The 7th edition of IPL was very productive for this right hander. This made the RR team management, retain Samson but he has just scored around 204 runs with a poor average of 20.40. He has only managed to score only one half century and his highest score was 76.</p>
<h4><strong>5. Dinesh Karthik:</strong></h4>

<p>Another wicket keeper batsman, who joins the list, is Dinesh Karthik. He was brought by Royal Challengers Bangalore for a huge amount of 10.5 crores. Karthik overall had a really dismal show, though he got off to a couple of good starts, he couldn&#8217;t capitalize on it. DK ended up scoring a mere 141 runs in 16 matches at a strike rate of 120, his highest being just 28.</p>
<h4><strong>6. Yuvraj Singh:</strong></h4>

<p>This is the second consecutive time that Yuvraj Singh failed to make any notable impression with the IPL. He was brought the Delhi Daredevils for a huge sum of 16 crores. But Yuvi hardly made an impact in this season. He wasn&#8217;t at his best in IPL 2014 as well. Following which, he was dropped by RCB. Yuvraj has scored just 248 runs in 14 innings in IPL 2015 at a very poor average of 18. His highest score was 57.</p>
<h4><strong>7. Stuart Binny:</strong></h4>

<p>This all rounder from Bangalore has played a huge impact in the fortunes of Rajasthan Royals especially in 2013 season where he scored 293 runs and picked up 6 wickets. Since then, Binny hasn&#8217;t performed up to the expectations. This year he has had a poor run, as he could just score 74 runs coupled with merely 4 wickets. RR surely missed his striking lower down the order and as a result, they were eliminated in the eliminator against RCB.</p>
<h4><strong>8. Ravindra Jadeja:</strong></h4>

<p>Another left handed all rounder makes into the under achievers list. He played a vital role in the last edition of the IPL by picking up 19 wickets. Ravindra Jadeja also made a sizable contribution with the bat. But this year, this southpaw has been completely out of form. Jaddu just picked 11 wickets at an economy of 7.73. He could not make an impact with the bat either.</p>
<h4><strong>9. Dale Steyn:</strong></h4>

<p>After a good world cup campaign, Steyn was confident before coming to India to play the 8th edition of IPL. But, SRH decided to prefer Boult over Steyn in the initial stages of the tournament. Even when he got a chance to be a part of the playing XI, he couldn&#8217;t dominate the batsmen. Steyn went for plenty and therefore he makes into this list. The South African pacer has picked up only, 3 wickets in the 6 matches he played with an expensive economy of 8.94.</p>
<h4><strong>10. Pravin Tambe:</strong></h4>

<p>The 42 year old, leg spinner from Mumbai became a sensation since he joined Rajasthan in 2013. Pravin Tambe has provided more stability to the bowling department. Especially in the previous edition of IPL, he bagged 15 scalps and was one among the leading wicket takers. But this year Tambe has been pretty ordinary with the ball. He was able to take only 7 wickets in the 10 matches he played at an economy of 7.8. The collective failure of the bowlers made it hard for RR to win the eliminator.</p>
<h4><strong>11. Vinay Kumar:</strong></h4>

<p>He is surely one of the most under rated pacers in India, having played first 3 seasons for RCB, he was brought by Kochi for the fourth season and then he came back to RCB. Vinay was terrific with the ball in the 2012 IPL, as he picked up 19 wickets in the 15 matches. He was traded off to Mumbai, ahead of the 8th IPL. Vinay did not prove to be as much effective this season. He has just picked up 7 wickets with an economy rate of 8.5. Thus he makes into this list.</p>
