The Foreigners; all time Overseas XI of the IPL: Often the game-changing strength for a team in the Indian Premier League (IPL) is framed by the four overseas players. And by far, the statistical records speak for itself that in an IPL match, the performance of 8 overseas players (four from each team) on an average constitutes to around 60 percent impact in deciding the fate of the game. A player with 3199 runs in just 82 matches with 5 centuries and 18 scores over 50 with a whooping average of 46.36 is something insane as per the T20 standards. His prime strength lies in clearing the boundary with sheer ease. And a player, who has done that for as many as 230 times, speaks for himself. He is undoubtedly one of the best opening batsmen in the history of IPL. To add a feather in the cap, this man has also got 16 wickets in the league. 2. Adam Gilchrist (Wicket Keeper) (Captain): Adam Gilchrist KXIP. (Photo Source:AFP) Adam Gilchrist has been an inspiring leader for the Deccan Chargers (2008-2010) and also for the Kings XI Punjab (2011-2013) in the concluding phases of his IPL career. He led DC to an emphatic IPL victory in 2009. Gilly has scored 2069 runs in 80 matches and along with 2 IPL centuries after his name. He has been an out and out attacking batsman with his career strike rate being 138.39 and he had the safest pair of hands behind the stumps. Gilchrist has got 51 catches and 16 stumpings in the Indian T20 league. 3. Jacques Kallis: Jacques Kallis KKR. Jacques Kallis was a reliable all-rounder for RCB in the first few seasons after which he has been the prime strength for KKR for a number of seasons. With 2427 runs and 65 wickets in 98 matches, Kallis has been an ecstatic all-rounder. He played an important role for KKR in 2012 when they evolved as the IPL Champions. 4. AB de Villiers: Ab De Villiers RCB. (Photo Source: BCCI) Well there is hardly anything that this man cannot do. Watching him play those unbelievable shots is simply a treat to watch. Apart from being a brilliant batsman, AB de Villiers is an electrifying fielder. And presently, he forms a part of the immense batting strength for RCB. He has got 2570 runs in 104 matches with two IPL centuries. AB possesses a strike rate of 144.87 which defines his aggressive instinct. He was also one of the retained players by RCB prior to IPL 7 auction. 5. Shane Watson: Shane Watson RR. (Photo Source: BCCI) Shane Watson has been the strength for Rajasthan Royals right from season 1. Presently, he is the captain of RR and has been doing his job decently well. He has played 78 matches and has scored a total of 2372 runs with a strike rate of 141.27. This portrays his batting style to an extent. Watson has also been a wicket taking bowler and has got 61 IPL wickets. He was the architect behind RR’s IPL triumph in 2008 where he scored 472 runs and clinched 17 wickets. 6. David Miller: David Miller KXIP. (Photo Source: BCCI) Miller has played the role of a pinch hitter for KXIP for the past few seasons and quite often, his cameos proved to be of huge importance in deciding the fate of the game. Speaking about his natural aggression, who can forget the match winning innings against RCB in 2013 where he scored a blistering century off just 38 balls to seal victory in favour of Kings XI Punjab. David Miller has scored a total of 1319 runs in 47 matches with a firing strike rate of 147.53. He is an impact player for the KXIP side. 7. Dwayne Bravo: Dwayne Bravo CSK. (Photo Source: BCCI) Started his career for Mumbai Indians and then became one of the prime strengths of Chennai Super Kings since season 4 of IPL. Bravo has been a destructive batsman in the lower middle order of the CSK batting line up. He has got 1163 runs in 91 matches. He has also been a decently economical bowler and has the knack of picking up wickets. Dwayne Bravo has taken 105 wickets in 91 matches. Bravo picked 32 wickets in 2013 season & 26 wickets in 2015 season. Bravo is equally brilliant with his fielding and athleticism. He has been a sheer entertainer and who doesn’t enjoy his dance moves on the field. 8. Sunil Narine: Sunil Narine KKR. (Photo Source: BCCI) The mystery spinner of KKR has been sensational with the ball for the past few seasons. He has serious contributions in KKR’s way to become the champions in 2012 and 2014. Sunil Narine’s four over’s were once considered as something priceless. He, not only managed to put a dip in the scoring rate of the opposition (his economy rate being 6.00), but also kept taking wickets in regular intervals. Narine has got 74 wickets in 55 matches with an average of 17.77. Also, his unpredictable nature made him an even dangerous spinner. 9. Dale Steyn: Dale Steyn SRH. (Photo Source: BCCI) Dale Steyn is regarded as perhaps one of the fastest bowlers in modern day cricket with a decent ability to swing the ball. He is the seventh highest wicket taker in IPL with 92 wickets in 89 matches. Also, has an economy rate of 6.71 which is pretty good judging by the T20 standards. Steyn started his IPL career for Royal Challengers Bangalore. Presently, he is a member of the Sunrisers Hyderabad. However, this season has not gone well for the South African speedster in the IPL. 10. Shane Warne: Shane Warne RR. (Photo Source: BCCI) The legendary leg spinner did manage to succeed in his IPL career as well. Shane Warne played the first three seasons and captained Rajasthan Royals. RR became the champions of IPL in the very first edition under this man’s leadership. Warne has got 57 wickets in 55 matches with his best figures being 4/21. He deceived the batsmen with his flight and also extracted some amount of turn even in T20 matches. 11. Lasith Malinga: Lasith Malinga MI. (Photo Source: BCCI) Lasith Malinga has been leading the pace attack for Mumbai Indians right from the first season. Also, he is currently the leading wicket-taker in IPL with 143 wickets in 98 matches. He has also got the best bowling figures of 5/13. Malinga can swing the ball and that in conjunction with his unorthodox bowling action makes him one of the deadliest bowlers in the shortest version of the game.
