India and England are up against each other in the first T20 International of the five-match series at the Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium. The match commenced with England winning the toss and the visiting skipper Eoin Morgan inviting the Virat Kohli & Co. to bat first. India had a torrid start to their campaign as they lost their opening batsman KL Rahul in the second over only.

This was followed by the Indian skipper Virat Kohli losing his wicket to spinner Adil Rashid in the third over and the hosts found themselves reeling at a poor score of 3 for 2. The same resulted in young wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant coming to the field in the third over only at the fourth position.

Pant played a monumental role in India’s victory against Australia and England in the four-match Test series by 2-1 and 3-1 respectively. This led to Rishabh earning a place for himself in the Indian squad in the shortest format of the game and making a comeback in the Indian T20 team after more than a year.

Rishabh Pant stuns the viewers with a spectacular shot

The youngster gave a glimpse of his swashbuckling form in the T20Is also as he hit an amazing reverse ramp/scoop combo shot off England’s Jofra Archer. He played an amazing shot to Archer which sailed over the third man for a six. The visual-delight by the wicketkeeper left the spectators and other players stunned as even Jofra Archer couldn’t stop himself from appreciating the young rookie.

Not only the players and the fans present in the stadium but the former cricket players also heaped praises on Rishabh Pant for the spectacular reverse sweep. Many veteran players including Kevin Pieterson, Yuvraj Singh, VVS Laxman, and many others took to their official Twitter handle to appreciate the player.

India had a disastrous outing in the first innings as they could score only 124 runs after losing 7 wickets. While Pant went back to the pavilion after scoring just 21 runs off 23 deliveries, Shreyas Iyer emerged as the highest run-getter with a sublime knock of 67 runs off 48 deliveries including 8 boundaries and one maximum.
