The host in me completely took over while shooting, says Karan Johar on the controversial Pandya-Rahul KWK episode

Hardik Pandya, KL Rahul and Karan Johar have been receiving flak from different sections over the last few weeks. The cricketers’ misogynist comments on the talk show Koffee with Karan has led to them being suspending immediately by the CoA and the inquiry is pending on the matter. Meanwhile, even Karan Johar was apologetic about the same and the episode was taken down straightaway by Hotstar as well.

The Supreme Court is now set to appoint Ombudsman next week to look into the matter. In the meantime, the BCCI CoA has lifted the suspensions provisionally on the cricketers until the Ombudsman is appointed but the damage has already been done and the Bollywood producer Karan has taken all the responsibility of the same.

In a recent interview to CNBC TV Karan Johar admitted that it was completely his mistake to have let those things happen. He was honest while speaking and conceded that those comments part could’ve been curtailed from the show before being aired.

I didn’t feel uncomfortable

“When you are hosting the show, there are so many things that you are doing. You have five segments that you are going from one to the other conversation. A lot of time the subconscious mind shuts down and the host in you takes over and that’s what happened to me.

I would be lying if I say I didn’t feel uncomfortable and I know that’s unfortunate thing for me to say because there were some uncomfortable things which were said,” Karan said.

Moreover, the 46-year-old admitted that it was his mistake completely that he went on to ask such questions to Hardik and Rahul and the cricketers were not at fault here. “I have taken complete responsibility because those questions were asked by me. I am responsible for what was asked on Koffee with Karan,” he added.

“The boys have paid the price for it and I really hope that they get back to playing cricket because they have basically been punished,” Karan Johar further said while also feeling bad about Hardik and Rahul.
