Trent Rockets picked up their fifth victory of The Hundred Men’s 2022, defeating London Spirit by six wickets. Trent Rockets elected to bowl first after winning the toss and the London Spirit lost an early wicket of Adam Rossington for just 22 runs.
Daniel Bell-Drummond found the boundaries at ease and his 15-ball 24 comprised two sixes and a four while Dan Lawrence could manage only a run-a-ball seven. Ben McDermott (30) and Eoin Morgan kept the scoreboard ticking for a while and Morgan, in particular, looked to be aggressive.
The former England captain scored 27 off just 16 balls including two fours and two sixes until Samit Patel got rid of him as the scoring rate came down. In the end, the London Spirit were bundled out for 122 in 93 balls, with Rashid Khan being the pick of the bowlers for Trent Rockets with 3 for 25 at 1.25 runs per ball. Sam Cook, Luke Wood and Samit Patel all picked up two wickets each.
Colin Munro-Tom Kohler-Cadmore partnership guides Trent Rockets home
In reply, the Trent Rockets faced an early blow as Dawid Malan was run out without facing a ball, while Alex Hales was removed for just six runs. However, the duo of Colin Munro and Tom Kohler-Cadmore stitched an 85-run partnership in just 51 balls to take the game away from the London Spirit and brought down the required run rate considerably.
Kohler-Cadmore perished after hitting three sixes in his 28-ball 41 while Munro kept attacking the bowlers to all parts of the ground. Lewis Gregory hit a six off his very first ball to finish the run chase while Munro was unbeaten on 67 off 37 balls with six fours and four sixes, and was awarded the Player of the Match award for his brilliant knock that bailed Trent Rockets out of trouble.
