The IPL spot-fixing case in a timeline: Two years of critics, prayers, investigations and wait has paid off for the Rajasthan Royals trio S Sreesanth, Ajit Chandela and Ankeet Chavan, who were arrested for the spot fixing issue of IPL corruption in 2013.
The verdict has been given today in the MCOCA court where all the three players along with several others were dropped of all charges. Finally a breath of sigh for the players since May 16 2013, IPL season 6.
- Delhi Police arrested the trio on May 16th 2013 which lead to the revelation of names of 11 bookies involved who were put behind the bars, including Amit Singh a former player of the Royals.
- Chandila’s house raided on the 18th of May.
- Another arrest of Vindoo Dara Singh son of late actor, Dara Singh was arrested for this links with the bookies.
- Meiyappan was summoned based on Vindoo’s confessions by the Mumbai Police on 23rd.
- 24th of May lead to Meiyappan’s links to the CSK were denied deleting his names from all of their documents, after his arrest also, he was suspended from the BBCI.
- Srinivasan the owner of CSK, was asked to step aside from his position in the BCCI on the 2nd of June till the investigations end.
- They appointed a two member committee of the retired judges from the board to look in the allegations.
- 6th of June comes the confession of Raj Kundra Rajasthan Royal’s owner on betting.
- Sreesanth and Chavan bailed on 11th June Ravi Sawant the anti-corruption and security officer of BCCI submits his interim report.
- CSK, RR, Raj Kundra and India Cements on 28th of June get a clean chit, so does Srinivasan who gets back to the post of BCCI President.
- Chief of Cricket Association of Bihar Aditya Verma files a PIL against the BCCI in the Bombay High Court. BCCI’s two-member probe panel declared as unconstitutional according to the BCCI constitution by the High Court on the 30th.
- On the 5th of August Supreme Court admits BCCI’s Special Leave Petition against the HC verdict on the ground of it being a Private body.
- BCCI, RR and India Cements receives notice based on Verma’s PIL.
- Chandila bailed on 9th of September.
- BCCI bans the accused RR players Sreesath, Chaval and Chandila.
- Harmeet Singh cleared with no evidence on 13th.
- On the 29th of September Srinivasan stopped from resuming office in BCCI but allowed to contest elections.
- A new commission formed by Supreme Court,for investigations on IPL controversies led by Justice Mukul Mudgal, it also included N Nageshwar Rao and Nilay Dutta.
- The report submitted by the Mugdal Committee had names of Indian players in the world cup 2011 which was not disclosed, Meiyappan was a part of the list.
- After many petitions and hearings, on 22nd January Meiyappan and Kundra were found guilty.
- July 13, 2015 Supreme Court appointed Justice Lodha committee files its report, preventing G Maiyeppan and R Kundra from any association with cricket administration for life and suspending the two IPL teams CSK and RR for 2 years.
- July 25, 2015 Delhi court puts off all the charges levied on the 3 cricketers along with 16 others, named in the Delhi Police charge sheet.
