The likes of Cheteshwar Pujara, women cricketers likely to earn big
The proposed model will be reviewed before sending it to the Committee of Administrators (CoA).
If a move proposed by BCCI treasurer Anirudh Chaudhry at the board’s financial committee meeting on Friday gets a green signal then the women cricketers and domestic players along with the Test match specialists will get to bag some serious cash. It has been observed that the above set of cricketers miss out on the lucrative IPL deals and therefore a proposal has been put in place which will benefit the players.
According to a BCCI official, the expected financial turn will see senior men cricketers, who feature in domestic tournaments such as Ranji Trophy and Duleep Trophy, getting Rs 25,000 in daily match fee, up from Rs 10,000. Senior women cricketers may see their match earnings rise to Rs 12,500 per day — they now get Rs 3,500.
A boost for those who miss out on the IPL
It has been learnt that the committee may take a few steps into making structural changes to the new revenue model and review it before sending it to the Supreme Court-appointed Committee of Administrators (CoA). The Indian womens team put up an impressive show earlier this year during the world cup in England, and the efforts have been lauded by the officials. proposals have hiked the annual retainership fees for women cricketers: Rs 50 lakh each for the four players in Grade A, Rs 30 lakh each for the six players in Grade B and Rs 15 lakh for the 10 players in Grade C. As of now, the women get Rs 15 lakh and Rs 10 lakh each in two categories.
The plan basically is to narrow the gap created by the IPL bidding. A Test specialist fails to pocket a certain sum which an uncapped T20 freelancer gets through the big T20 league. If the latest proposal gets a nod then a player like Cheteshwar Pujara, who doesn’t feature in the IPL, will get around Rs 2 crore.
