The new generation of cricketers take inspiration from Virender Sehwag: Harbhajan Singh

Virender Sehwag has been one of the most destructive openers in the game of cricket, who tried to unsettle the opposition from the starting by hitting boundaries from the very first ball of the match.  In the ongoing iB Cricket Super Over League, Harbhajan Singh lauded Sehwag’s attacking style and added that he is an inspiration for the young cricketers of today.This happened during the clash of India’s next-gen champs Prithvi Shaw and Shubman Gill when the former scored the boundary on the very first ball.

Harbhajan, who donned the role of commentator for this match, praised Prithvi Shaw and this generation for their daring approach to the game and added, “This generation takes inspiration from Viru.

“These youngsters grew up watching Viru.” Harbhajan said, “Viru used to hit boundaries in the very first ball, people like Viru are their heroes. Viru changed the opening trend of cricket. He only used to play fast, no defense. He has set such a trend today.”

In response, Virender Sehwag thanked Harbhajan for his sweet words.

12 international cricketers like Virender Sehwag, Brendon McCullum, Harbhajan Singh, Andre Russell, Suresh Raina, Herschelle Gibbs, Prithvi Shaw, Shubman Gill, Christopher Lynn, Mohammad Kaif, Tillakaratne Dilshan and VVS Laxman, are participating in iB Cricket Super Over League – world’s first VR cricket league.

The match was between Orange Chargers’ Prithvi Shaw and Blue Blasters’ Shubman Gill. Blue Blasters consists of Virender Sehwag, Mohammad Kaif and Shubman Gill while Orange Chargers consists of VVS Laxman, Prithvi Shaw, and Andre Russell. Harbhajan Singh donned the role of commentator in the battle of future stars.

It was the highest scoring match of the league so far in which Prithvi Shaw defeated Shubman Gill by 7 runs. The next match is between Herschelle Gibbs and Mohammad Kaif. Gautam Bhimani and Nia Sharma are hosts of this league. The first-of-its-kind league is streaming on Viu.
