The reason behind MS Dhoni retiring on 15th August revealed by his manager
MS Dhoni's top priority now is the IPL, said his manager.
‘Consider me retired,’ posted MS Dhoni on his Instagram account on the evening of 15th August 2020. This post has gone viral immediately and fans had mixed reactions to this announcement. While many wanted him to continue playing, some felt that he has had enough and this was the right time for this. Irrespective of the discussions, wishes have poured in for the former Indian captain congratulating him on what was a glorious career.
All this aside, MS Dhoni still left the fans with a few question marks. Many wondered why he waited till 15th August 2020 if he played his last game more than a year ago. And the biggest of the doubts was why exactly he announced that he is retired from 19:29 hours. There have been several speculations and theories stating the reasons for this date and time. His manager, Mihir Diwakar revealed the reason why he made the announcement on 15th August.
MS Dhoni is a true patriot of the nation
Mihir Diwakar said that the 39-year-old is a true patriot of the nation. He mentioned that there could be a no bigger day than the Indian Independence Day for MS Dhoni to say goodbye to international cricket as quoted by India Today. Diwakar also revealed the fact that discussions about Dhoni’s retirement have been going on for a while now. However, he added that they didn’t decide on a date to make the announcement.
Earlier, MS Dhoni was expected to feature in the T20 World Cup 2020 after considering his performance in IPL 2020. However, since the mega event is postponed until next year due to the ongoing global pandemic, it might have prompted him to take a call.
MS Dhoni’s exit from Test cricket back in 2014 was also a low-key affair. In the middle of the series against Australia Down Under, he decided to hang his boots from the longest format of the game. He also took everyone by surprise when he announced his decision to step down as the skipper of the side in both ODI and T20I cricket. Likewise is his announcement of bidding goodbye to international cricket.
