Indian women’s team is currently in Australia and played the opening ODI against them on September 21, 2021. Though India couldn’t start the series on a fine lot and suffered a big loss by nine wickets, Mithali Raj flaunted her batting class in the game. She came with her 59th ODI fifth and meanwhile completed 20,000 runs in her cricketing career.
In the same light, Bollywood actress Tapsee Pannu congratulated Raj on her Twitter handle and referred to as ‘run machine.’ It was only in the early parts of 2021 when Mithali became the highest run-scorer in women’s international cricket. With her 59th ODI, she helped India post 225 runs on the board in the opening ODI but they didn’t turn out to be enough towards the end. “The run machine!” tweeted Pannu.

It has to be noted that Pannu would be playing Mithali Raj on the big screen in her biopic ‘Shabaash Mitthu.’ The picture is all set to display the Indian skipper’s struggles in her career as she went on to become one of the most successful women cricketers in the world.
Australia vs India, opening ODI
Talking about today’s match, Mithali appeared in a fine tone and played a subtle knock of 63 off 107 but the Australian team looked adamant to make it an easy affair. Terrific innings from Rachael Haynes (93* off 100) and Alyssa Healy (77 off 77) pushed the home side to grab victory by nine wickets. Darcie Brown was declared as the player of the match for her four-wicket haul by conceding just 33 runs in nine overs.
“I think when you are put in to bat first, you need to put a good partnership. A lot more is expected of the bowling department, especially the spinners. They need to perform on these wickets. It wasn’t a performance that wins the game for my team, I need to work on a few areas. There’s a lot expected of the debutants,” said Raj after India’s loss in the first ODI.
They will be playing the next ODI on September 24 at the same venue.
