The security in Pakistan was amazing: Faf du Plessis
Faf led the World XI side on the tour of Pakistan and revealed some of the security measures which made him feel as if it was a Hollywood movie.
When Sri Lanka toured Pakistan in 2009, their team bus was attacked by terrorists and since then, International cricketers, as well as teams, have been reluctant to tour the country. It forced PCB to organize matches in a neutral venue like UAE, which has become a second home. In an effort to bring International cricket back to their home, ICC organized a T20I series with World XI team which was led by Faf du Plessis.
World XI was a star-studded team which included the likes of Tamim Iqbal, Hashim Amla, Tim Paine, David Miller, Grant Elliott, Thisara Perera, Sammy, Ben Cutting, Morne Morkel, Imran Tahir, Samuel Badree, Paul Collingwood and George Bailey. Pakistan won the three-match series 3-0 but the message that the nation is safe to play cricket was more important.
Faf who is currently also playing Pakistan at home recently opened about the experience of playing cricket there. The right-handed batsman claimed that the security was amazing in Pakistan and admitted that the security systems in place made him feel like he was part of a Hollywood movie.
The South African further revealed that players were asked to wear masks for security propose which was an amazing experience.
Faf du Plessis found security amazing
“The security in Pakistan was amazing. As soon as we landed there, the security was like a Hollywood movie. There were snipers on the roof, bulletproof trucks and we even had to put masks on ourselves, it was amazing to experience that” he was quoted as saying by PakPassion.
Apart from the security systems, Faf du Plessis also had something to say about the people of Pakistan. He said that Pakistanis are really passionate about cricket and it is not possible to explain that to others. He claimed that people in there are really desperate to witness International cricket.
“The passion for cricket in Pakistan is not something you can explain to people. The people of Pakistan are so hungry to see cricket back in their country,” du Plessis further said.
