The Chennai Super Kings have been struggling through some storm these days in UAE. Firstly 13 members of their contingent, including pacer Deepak Chahar and youngster Ruturaj Gaikwad tested COVID-19 positive during the regular course of testing.

The franchise was getting over it somehow only when star batsman Suresh Raina decided to pack bags for India stating personal reasons. While reports suggested that his closed relative has been murdered by a group of anonymous assailants in Pathankot, others said he was unhappy with his hotel room in UAE.

It was said that it was due to the unsuitable room he got, he came in a rift with the CSK management. Heads turned in shock when franchise owner, N Srinivasan made comments like he has assumed himself as ‘prima donna’ of the game and ‘fame has gone into his head.’ However, Raina has finally cleared the air and opened up in an exclusive interview with Cricbuzz telling his side of the story.

In light of Srinivasan’s comment, the southpaw said that he is like a father figure to him, and he has the right to scold his son, ‘Ek baap apne bacche ko daant sakta ha.’ However, Raina told that Srinivasan didn’t know the exact reason, and things have been pacified between them. He also made a point to clarify that was no rift between him and the CSK management over any matter.

It was a personal decision: Suresh Raina

On what prompted him to go him, Raina told Cricbuzz, “It was a personal decision, and I had to come back for my family. There was something that needed to be addressed immediately on the home front. CSK is my family too, and Mahi bhai (MS Dhoni) is very important to me, and this was a tough decision.

There is no issue between CSK and me. Nobody will just turn their back on Rs 12.5 crore and walk away without a solid reason. I might have retired from international cricket, but I’m still young, and I am looking forward to playing for them in the IPL for the next 4-5 years.”
