Virat Kohli was dismissed for a duck in the 1st innings of the 2nd Test match against New Zealand in a controversial fashion. The Indian skipper was adjudged LBW by the on-field umpire, and Kohli went for the review.
Replays showed that the ball might have brushed the bat moments before it struck the pad, but third umpire Virender Sharma thought otherwise, and upheld the decision of the on-field umpire, as he did not have sufficient evidence to overturn the decision.
And now, former Indian cricketer Pragyan Ojha has offered his cheeky opinion on the matter. Ojha stated that Virender Sharma might have possibly forgotten that the world has only one ‘Virender’(Sehwag), whose boldness is loved by all.
“Virender Sharma bhool gaye ki duniya main sirf ek Virender Sehwag Who’s boldness we love!,” stated Ojha on Koo. You can see the post from Pragyan Ojha on Koo below.
Mayank Agarwal holds fort for India against New Zealand
India’s opening batter, Mayank Agarwal has played a ravishing knock for the Indian side against New Zealand. The right-hander batted throughout Day 1, and is still out there in the middle, batting on 138*. Even though wickets fell at the other end, Agarwal has looked flawless.
Apart from Agarwal, Shubman Gill also contributed a vital 44 as well. The Indian scorecard currently reads 263/6, and Axar Patel is giving company to Agarwal out in the middle. Big guns Cheteshwar Pujara and Virat Kohli were both dismissed for ducks. Ajaz Patel has wreaked havoc single-handedly with the red cherry for the Kiwis.
The left-arm spinner has picked up all 6 wickets that have fallen for the Indian side in the 1st innings of the 1st Test match and has made the ball dance to his tunes. The series is currently level at 0-0 after New Zealand clung on to a draw in the 1st Test match at Kanpur. The winner of the 2nd Test will be crowned as the winner of the Test series between the two teams.
