'They were bowled out for 36 but later pulled off a famous series win' - Nasser Hussain warns England to not write off India

The Test series between England and India has been an intriguing contest so far. In the second Test, India registered a thrilling victory at Lord’s to take a lead in the series. The hosts, however, bounced back stronger in the third Test by securing a dominating win by an innings and 76 runs. As the teams now charge up for the fourth Test match, the former England skipper Nasser Hussain has warned Joe Root and the team to not write off India after winning at Headingley.

The Indian team has had an impressive run in Test cricket lately. They turned many heads by exuding great character Down Under as they clinched the series coming back from the Adelaide debacle where they were bowled out for 36. Thus, in his latest column for The Telegraph, Hussain lavished praises on the intent displayed by team India in the series so far. He recounted the instance of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy and suggested England to not take the visitors for granted.

“But the last thing England must do now thinks they have done the hard work and write India off ahead of Thursday’s fourth Test in south London and the final match at Old Trafford — grounds which should suit their attack better. Remember, they were bowled out for 36 by Australia in Adelaide late last year but came back to pull off a famous series win. And after Kohli had gone home, too,” Hussain wrote.

The India captain Virat Kohli has had a lean patch with the bat lately. He did score a fifty in the third Test but hasn’t been able to build on his innings. Although, India has great depth and belief in their batting lineup and also possesses an experience and lethal bowling attack. Taking this into consideration, Hussain stated that even if Kohli is struggling, India has the strength to come back stronger.

“India do have a lot of strength of character and fight, and central to that is their captain, even though Kohli has looked more like the 2014 version rather than the one who conquered English conditions and England’s attack in 2018,” Hussain wrote further.
