The form of Ajinkya Rahane and Cheteshwar Pujara has been a concern for team India lately. However India’s bowling coach Paras Mhambrey on Wednesday, December 1 stated that there is no discussion about the players’ form in the team.
Both Rahane and Pujara’s place in the team has been questioned by many owing to their dip in form. Moreover, Shreyas Iyer made his Test debut in style by hitting a century in the first innings and followed it by a half-century in the second innings, and by this, he has cemented his place in the side. Now with Virat Kohli returning in the setup for the Mumbai Test, either Rahane or Pujara might need to make a way for him.
They have played enough cricket to understand what is expected, says Paras Mhambrey
However, Mhambrey said that the two players have a plethora of experience under their sleeves and are just one inning away from getting their rhythm back. He also added that there are no talks about their form in the team as the side is backing them to come back stronger.
“We know there is a lot of experience behind them and they have played enough cricket…we also know as a team that they are one inning away from coming to form. As a team, everyone is behind them and backing them, they know the value they bring to the team and the experience that they have.
“They will come good, really not having any discussion around them. They have played enough cricket to understand what is expected or required to get going,” Mhambrey said in the press conference.
Previously even India’s head coach Rahul Dravid had come in support of Rahane. He had asserted that the batter is a quality player and that it is just a matter of a game for him to turn things around.
“I mean you don’t get worried. Of course, you would like more runs from Ajinkya, he would like to score more runs. He is a quality player and he has done well for India in the past. He is one of those guys who has quality and experience and it’s a matter of a game when he would like to turn it around and he knows that and we know that” Dravid said after the drawn Kanpur Test.
