Ever since his retirement from international cricket, Shoaib Akhtar has found ways to be around the sport. After launching his Youtube channel, Akhtar has been very vocal about issues related to sports. He has often criticized teams for their performance and also praised them on their wins.

Meanwhile, coronavirus has affected the entire world. Due to the outbreak of the pandemic, the world has come to a standstill. All cricket and sporting events have been cancelled or postponed until the threat is dealt with. Shoaib Akhtar voiced his opinion regarding the same and urged people to support each and everyone during these tough times.

In the video posted on his YouTube channel, Shoaib has urged people to work as a global force and follow all the guidelines issued by the government. He also asked people not to start stocking up supplies for themselves as it would affect the daily wage workers. He also talked about how people should not take religion into account during these desperate times.

‘Stop hoarding things’: Shoaib Akhtar

“Request all my fans all across the globe. Coronavirus is a global crisis and we have to think as a global force, rise above religion. Lockdown is happening so that the virus does not spread. If you are doing interaction and meeting in places, it will not help,” the veteran pacer said.

“If you are hoarding things, please think about the daily wage workers. Stores are empty. What is the guarantee that you will live after three months? Think about the daily wage worker, how will he feed his family? Think about people, time to be a human, not Hindu, Muslim. People will have to help each other, collect funds. Stop hoarding.”

Akhtar asked his fans to rise above religion and think like a human and not Hindu or Muslim. “Rich will still survive; how will the poor survive? Have faith. We are living like animals, live like humans. Try to be helpful, please stop storing stuff. It is time we look after each other. No time to be divided, we have to live as humans,” said the former Pakistan speedster.

A week earlier Shoaib Akhtar had also criticized China for making the virus. During that video, the pacer had talked about the harsh treatment against animals in the country and how there should be strict laws to prevent that. Pakistan has also got hit by the coronavirus with about 800 people already been reported of having the virus in the country. Five people have also died due to the virus in Pakistan.
