Former Indian cricketer Mohammad Kaif has drawn the ire of fans after his tweet on social media post India’s victory over Sri Lanka in the second Test match at Bangalore. The Rohit Sharma-led outfit thrashed Sri Lanka by 238 runs inside three days to seal the series 2-0.

Kaif tweeted about the players in the Indian Test setup and stated that under the leadership of Rohit Sharma and Rahul Dravid, India have emerged as a world-beating Test side. This tweet didn’t go down well with the cricket fans as they came down hard at Kaif.

“KL, Rohit, Vihari, Kohli, Iyer, Pant, Jadeja, Ash, Bumrah, Shami and many No.11 options … Suddenly, it all looks fine. Under Rohit and Dravid, a world-beating Test unit is taking shape,” tweeted Mohammad Kaif.

Twitter not happy with Mohammad Kaif’s remarks

Many fans feel that Mohammad Kaif has not given credit to the work put in by previous skipper Virat Kohli and coach Ravi Shastri in transforming India into a champion Test side.

One fan stated that the former India batter has come in with clear favouritism as the current Test side took shape only under Kohli, while another sarcastically stated that Kaif was released by the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) franchise after Kohli took over as the skipper of the side.

Yet another fan strongly stated that the world-beating side belongs to Virat Kohli as he took the team from No.7 in the Test rankings to No.1. All in all, Kaif has managed to earn the wrath of fans with his tweet. Meanwhile, the Indian players will now join their respective IPL franchises for the upcoming season that is set to start from March 26.

India’s next Test assignment in July where they will face England for the fifth Test of the series that wasn’t played during the previous tour due to COVID-19.
