The Gabba Fortress is finally breached. Despite all the odds and the truckload of injuries, India registered a stunning victory in the last Test at the Gabba in Brisbane to retain the prestigious Border Gavaskar Trophy against Australia by 2-1. This will go down as one of the greatest series wins for the visitors as they didn’t have it easy in any way.

The Men in Blue were without the services of their skipper and batting legend Virat Kohli as he returned back to India after the first Test for the birth of his first child. In addition, all the key bowlers are marred with injury and India had entered the fourth contest with a completely inexperienced bowling unit. Ajinkya Rahane and Cheteshwar Pujara are the only two players to feature in all four Test matches.

Thus, winning the marquee series against mighty Australia was nothing less than a World Cup win and showed the class and character of the youngsters. As soon as the young wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant hit the winning shot, wishes started pouring in for India for this breathtaking iconic victory.

Virender Sehwag hails the Indian team

Former Indian opener Virender Sehwag was one of the best to celebrate this historic win as he took to his official Twitter handle to laud this new Indian side who is capable of defeating any team anywhere in the world. Along with his tweet, Sehwag also shared a picture of the backside of a truck which was sporting the line, ‘This is new India, they will beat you at your own house,’

“Khushi ke maare pagal. This is the new India. Ghar mein ghuskar maarta hai. From what happened in Adelaide to this, these young guys have given us a joy of a lifetime. There have been World Cup wins but this is special. And yes, there is a reason Pant is extra special,” Virender Sehwag tweeted.

Having a target of a whopping 328 on the scoreboard, Rishabh Pant emerged as the wrecker-in-chief for the Men in Blue as he produced a scintillating show in Brisbane by hammering a match-defining knock of 89* runs off 138 deliveries including 9 boundaries and 1 maximum.
