'This is so wrong' - Shoaib Akhtar not happy with a Karachi Kings member using mobile phone in dug out

The fifth edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) got underway on Friday and it hasn’t taken much time for the controversy to emerge. Only on the second day of the season, during the match between Peshawar Zalmi and Karachi Kings, a member of the latter side was seen using the mobile phone in the dug out. This incident has invited controversy and the former Pakistan cricketer Shoaib Akhtar is not at all happy with it.

According to the ICC’s laws, mobile phones are banned in the dressing rooms and the players and the team management are only allowed to use walkie-talkies to communicate. Rather a lot of times, the teams use the walkie-talkies during the T20 matches especially to communicate a message from dressing room to the dug out.

Coming back to the latest controversy, the incident took place in the 13th over of the second innings when the Peshawar Zalmi were chasing a mammoth 203 with Liam Dawson and Liam Livingstone in the middle. While the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is yet to respond on the matter, it remains to be seen if the match officials take any action over the Karachi Kings official for using mobile phone.

Shoaib Akhtar’s reaction

Meanwhile, Shoaib Akhtar has opened up on the matter and isn’t pleased at all with what transpired during the match 2 of the PSL. He took to his official Twitter handle to express his views on the same and termed it absolutely wrong. “This is so wrong using mobile phone in dug out,” Akhtar wrote in the tweet.

As far as the match is concerned, it turned out to be a thriller. The Zalmi won the toss and opted to bowl first only to Babar Azam (78) and Imad Wasim (50) help the Karachi Kings rack up 202 runs in 20 overs. Hasan Ali, making a comeback after a long injury layoff, looked rusty and conceded 52 runs in his four overs while also picking a couple of wickets.

The chase was always going to be tough for Peshawar Zalmi but they came ever so close of the target thanks to some brilliant batting from Liam Livingstone and Kamran Akmal. But they fell 10 runs short and handed the Kings their first win of the season.
