ICC has made provisions for points distribution in the Test championship

Every team will get to play six series with every series that will hold 120 points that will be distributed according to the matches that are scheduled in one series. A Test series that will have two encounters, in that each match will be of 60 points whereas in a three-match series each face-off will cost 40 points and 50% points will be given if the contest ends on a tie.

Matches in series (2) – Win/Tie/Draw – 60/30/20

Matches in series (3) – Win/Tie/Draw – 40/20/13

Matches in series (4) – Win/Tie/Draw – 30/15/10

Matches in series (5) – Win/Tie/Draw – 24/12/8

Currently, India is on the top of the league table with 160 points with three wins in three Test banters, as they bagged 120 points after winning all the contests of a two-Test series in West Indies and also grabbed 40 points after winning the opening encounter against South Africa in three-match series. After India, New Zealand and Sri Lanka can be seen at 2nd and 3rd positions respectively with 60 points in their account, followed by Australia on 4th and England in 5th position.

Team India have consolidated their position by defeating South Africa with a big margin of 203 runs. After winning the match Indian skipper looked positive about the performance of his bowler in tough situations, “It was a hard grind though because of the weather and the pitch slowing down. It’s all about the attitude. If fast bowlers step out thinking, spinners are going to do the job, then it’s not going to happen. But fast bowlers have been brilliant in India as well. They might prefer shorter spells but it’s all about wanting to do for the team. Jaddu and Ash again really really good. Ash in the first innings especially, given the conditions. Jadeja in the second making those quick wickets,” Virat Kohli said after the match.
