The Third Test between India and Australia has taken an ugly turn, and is in the news now, for things that are happening away from the cricket field. During Day Three of the New Year’s Test at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG), it was reported that Mohammad Siraj was being called a monkey by some Australian supporters in the crowd.
Now, to add more fuel to the fire, the abuses continued on Day Four, with both Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammad Siraj receiving some slanderous comments from a section of the crowd at the Sydney Cricket Ground. Cricket Australia has also officially released a statement promising that those involved in such unruly behavior will face the consequences.
Now, former Indian cricketer Harbhajan Singh has joined in and has tweeted about the behavior of the Australian public. Harbhajan is no stranger to controversy, as it was in the very same venue way back in the year 2008, that he was involved in the infamous ‘MonkeyGate’ scandal that rocked the cricketing world.
“I personally have heard many things on the field while playing in Australia about Me My religion My colour and much more..This isn’t the first time the crowd is doing this nonsense.. How do you stop them,” read Harbhajan’s Tweet.

Australia on top in the Third Test
As far as the on field action in concerned, the kangaroos have set the Indian side a daunting target of 407 runs to win the Third Test. Cameron Green was the star with the bat for the Aussies in the second innings, scoring a 132 ball 84. And, Steve Smith continued from where he left off in the first innings, and scored a crucial 81 as Australia declared their second innings with their scorecard reading 312/6.
In reply, the Indian openers put on a 71 run partnership before Shubman Gill was removed by Josh Hazlewood. Rohit Sharma added the much needed fifty in the game (52 of 98) before he was sent back by Pat Cummins. Ajinkya Rahane and Cheteshwar Pujara are currently on crease and will be keen on the final day to get team over the line.
