Three Bangladesh players went on a night out after the third ODI against South Africa

Bangladesh is struggling to even compete in their ongoing tour to South Africa and has been swept away so far in Tests and ODIs. They lost the two-match Test series by 2-0 and three-match One-Day International series by 3-0 which compounded problems away from home. However, as if the issues on the field weren’t enough, now three players of the touring party were found in the casino soon after the third ODI in East London on Sunday and broke the players’ curfew.

All the three players were the juniors and were seen going out together at around nine in the evening. It was learnt that they returned after the curfew and most importantly didn’t inform the team management. The team is not having a good time in the country already and are yet to play a two-match T20I series which is al set to commence on Thursday in Bloemfontein at Mangaung Oval.

Who are the three players?

According to the dailystar.net, the three players in question are pacers Taskin Ahmed, Shafiul Islam and all-rounder Nasir Hossain. Taskin is talented bowler but is enduring a prolonged bad patch after shining in the early part of his career. The other two players are always in and out of the side as their careers aren’t settled either. Though the chief selector and manager for the current tour, Minhajul Abedin has cleared the air that the players didn’t break any rules and they returned to the team hotel in time.

“Because there was not a match the following day we set a curfew for 10’o clock at night, and they told me that they returned within that time. They went out to have a bite and they walked over to the casino. Rabada and de Villiers were also there,” he told media at the press conference and also confirmed that the players in question only went to the casino and didn’t play. But Abedin also assured that he would take up the matter in the upcoming team meeting.

“They did not play, but I will personally take up the matter in the team meeting at Bloemfontein,” he said. The statement of the Bangladesh manager clearly points to the fact that he is not convinced with the players’ version of returning to the team hotel on time and would look to investigate this issue. It also remains to be seen if any action would be taken on them as the tour is about to conclude by this weekend.
