Chennai Super Kings is one of the most entertaining sides in IPL history and they will be raring to go to clinch their third title in 2018 season. The photo shoots and jersey unveiling of the franchise was recently done and dusted. The players of the team are eagerly waiting for the season and they are busy with the practice to make themselves fit for the season.

Recently, in the IPL Auction, the Chennai Super Kings owners opted to pick experienced players in their side and the head coach Stephen Fleming feels that their side is a balanced one with the rich mixture of veteran and emerging players right from MS Dhoni to Deepak Chahar.

Speaking to the official CSK website, the former NZ skipper Fleming said, “It’s obviously a balanced side, a good mix of experience and young players who are coming through. Be it Harbhajan Singh and Shane Watson or Shardul Thakur and Deepak Chahar. There is a lot of all-round skills on the side and a lot of options, some great spinning options, pace options and a very good batting line-up. We have all three facets of the game covered.”

Spin is the key

Fleming further added that Harbhajan Singh-led spin attack is their key to attack the opposition. He’s also highly satisfied with the pace options Ngidi, Wood for the upcoming season, “Spin is the key. If you look at our side we are very strong in spin bowling skill sets and we have also put a lot of faith in young Indian pace bowlers. And we have also got Lungi Ngidi and Mark Wood for that bit of extra pace depending on the conditions.”

The favourites Chennai will take on Mumbai Indians in the tournament opener at the Wankhede Stadium on April 7 and Fleming is looking forward to the game and start the season with a victory, “We are looking forward to it already,” Fleming added. “It’s a great way to get a benchmark, the way your side’s going to be. It’s better to start the tournament that way although some might say it’s better to ease into a tournament.”
