Three Indians arrested at Chittagong stadium during Bangladesh vs West Indies Test

As the action of Bangladesh’s home Test against the West Indies went towards the end, things got a little sour as far as the behind the scenes were concerned. On the fourth day of the first Test in Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram, few people were arrested. The police have reportedly arrested three Indian citizens with suspicions of gambling within the premises of the stadium.
The incident took place on Saturday, February 6th, when the three citizens were detained. It was alleged by members of the National Security Intelligence or NSI that they were involved in international gambling. They were detained at the main entrance of the stadium in the afternoon at around 2:30 PM.
The three people who were arrested were later on identified as Sunil Kumar, (38 years old), Chetan Sharma (33 years old) and Sunny Maghu (32 years old). After the detention happened, Hasan Imam, the office in charge of Pahartali Police Station, had a word with the media talking about this whole scenario.
Gambling videos were found on their phones, says Police
According to cricfrenzy website, it was revealed by Hasan Imam that the trio was first investigated to check if they had legally entered the country or not. At the time of this investigation, the police had come across some videos on their smartphones, which were related to gambling.
As of now, there were no gambling materials that have been found by the Police on the three. But, it was stated that if proven that the trio were in fact gamblers, serious legal action will be taken on them.
At the time of writing this, West Indies had just beaten Bangladesh by three wickets in Chittagong. Debutant Kyle Mayers played the innings of his life, scoring a double century in his first Test and taking the visitors to a famous win. Having set a target of 395 runs to win, West Indies surprised the host by chasing the mammoth total on a turning pitch. The two teams will now meet in the second Test in Dhaka from February 11. West Indies will go into that match with a 1-0 advantage.
