'Tide please sponsor them' - Twitter goes ablaze after noticing the colour difference in India and New Zealand jerseys
Team India will not only look to further consolidate their position in the Test Championship table but also assert that they are an all-condition outfit.
After a ten-day break, the dust has settled on the razmataz of the five-match Twenty20 Internationals and three-match fifty-over fixtures and it is now time for the No.1 Test side in the world to lock horns with New Zealand in the two ICC Test championship matches, starting at the Basin Reserve in Wellington from February 21.
Both the captains- Virat Kohli and Kane Williamson– briefed the media while also coming together for a pre-series photoshoot. The New Zealand Cricket Board posted the photo of two captains on their social media handles but what caught the eyes of the fans was the difference in colour between the shirts.
The official Twitter handle of the New Zealand cricket team shared the photo which they captioned as “Photocall time for the captains at the @BasinReserve ahead of Test 1. #NZvIND.”
Team India looking to consolidate their position in WTC
Coming back to the series, Team India will not only look to further consolidate their position in the Test Championship table but also assert that they are an all-condition outfit. They would also concede to avenge the disappointment of the last Test series that they played in 2014.
India may have lost the two-match rubber 0-1, but the scoreline hardly suggests how close the series eventually was. Indian back brilliantly in the first Test at Auckland where they proceeded to bowl the Kiwis out for a mere 105 after having conceded a 300-run lead in the first innings. India battled valiantly in the second innings but fell 40 runs short of the target of 406.
If India almost snatched victory in the jaws of what was looking like a shellacking at the halfway stage, they did the press conference in Wellington where they squandered a great chance for a win by dropping Brendon McCullum twice in the second innings, paving way for a match-saving triple hundred by the then Kiwi captain.
Six years on, India under Virat Kohli is a far more well-rounded side and the skipper asserted the same in the pre-series press conference. Meanwhile, fans can’t get enough of the stark difference in colours of shirts donned by Kohli and Williamson, and as usual, hilarious memes have ensued.
