The Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA) has reportedly refused to implement the Lodha committee recommendations before the Supreme Court verdict on October 17. Top TNCA sources have revealed that the association has already made its decision and has intimated the BCCI about which are the proposals they are going to accept and which are the ones that are going to be rejected.

The Lodha Committee headed by the Chief Justice of India RM Lodha has directed the state associations to give a letter to the court before October 17 describing their position about the implementation of the recommendations.

“You need to get the nod of three-fourths of the members to implement such changes. It’s festival season and there’s the feeling in the association is that even if the proposals are tabled, the members are going to reject those outright,” a source in the know told TOI.

One major reason behind TNCA’s refusal to implement the Lodha panel recommendation is because a huge void will be created in the administrative structure. If the recommendations are to be followed, the entire top brass of the TNCA which includes president N Srinivasan, secretary KS Viswanathan, joint-secretary RI Palani, will have to vacate their chairs.

“Most of the members of the association feel that it will be impossible to fill the void if there’s no time even to convene a meeting and implement the recommendations. So it’s highly unlikely that we are going to give any letter to the Supreme Court before October 17,” the source added.

It was also told that because they have decided to reject the proposals, there has been no thought on who could be the next set of office-bearers.

“We will wait for the Supreme Court to pass an order. If they do, we will see what is to be done,” the source added.

The TNCA, like other associations, will have to return Rs 17 crores that they have received from the BCCI after the recent disbursement of funds. But TNCA bosses said that hosting Ranji Trophy matches this season won’t be an issue even if the BCCI funds dry up.

‘No problem in hosting Ranji matches. For this season, we will be able to manage,” the source added.
