Tom Banton is looking well on his way to become the next big thing in white-ball cricket from England. In the last few years, the reigning 50-over world champions have given the world some of the best limited-overs batsmen of present times and Banton is looking set to join that list. The right-handed batsman has been making all the right noises.

He recently made his T20I debut in New Zealand after an exceptional One-Day tournament followed by an impressive T20 Blast season. The youngster, however, failed to make much of an impression, scoring 18, 31 and 7 in those three outings. And his exploits in the domestic circuit has already started drawing attention from all around the globe.

The highly-rated batsman is already set for a BBL stint with the Brisbane Heat. Recently, he plied his trade for Qalandars in the just-concluded Abu Dhabi T10 League and made his mark by scoring two fifties. And latest media reports have been suggesting that he is also set to get a deal from an IPL franchise in the upcoming auction.

Mumbai Indians have released Evin Lewis and could rope in Tom Banton as their top-order batsman

Well, the player has now revealed the team he would love to play for in the IPL. The England star has said that he would love to play for Mumbai Indians instead of Chennai Super Kings.

“Playing in the IPL has been a dream from a very young age. You see the big crowds and the attention it has. I am in the IPL auction this year (December 19), so fingers crossed somebody picks me,” Banton told ESPNCricinfo.

“As a kid, I have always loved watching Mumbai Indians. Then I had the good fortune of playing at the Wankhede for the England U-19 team. There was tremendous support at the ground then, even though we lost 5-0,” he added.

Well, Mumbai Indians have released Evin Lewis and could rope in Banton as their top-order batsman when the auction takes place next month. Kolkata will host the much-awaited auction on December 19.
