Tom Moody congratulates SRH for reaching the final
Sunrisers beat KKR in Qualifier 2 to make their way into the final where they face CSK.
Indian Premier League (IPL) 2018 has been a long and exciting tournament, and at the end, it is the Orange Army vs the Yellow Brigade for the final. Even though Sunrisers Hyderabad lost the last four matches before Friday including the Qualifier 1 against Chennai Super Kings, they were the first team to qualify for the playoffs. But none of that matters now, and whoever outplays the other in the match on Sunday takes the cup home.
But as of today, SRH have achieved yet another feat, and their coach Tom Moody praised and congratulated his boys for that. After their inspired effort in the crunch moments of Qualifier 2, Moody took to Twitter and wrote, “Congratulations Orange Army. Another great fight, huge character shown by all. Here we come Mumbai.”
The Australian praised everyone in the team, but in reality, it was more like a one-man show on the field. In the Qualifier 2, middle-order batting once again proved to be a problematic area for SRH, as it has been throughout the tournament. In fact, they could have been stuck at a far lower total and KKR might have had the last laugh, if not for Rashid Khan’s exploits with the bat.
Rashid has been phenomenal all-through IPL 2018, taking wickets and winning hearts at the same time. The 19-year-old from Afghanistan delivered once again when the team needed him, but this time with both bat and ball.
First, he helped SRH reach a defendable score of 174 with a staggering knock of 34 from only 10, decorated with two boundaries and twice as many sixes. Later, he broke the backbone of KKR batting with 3 wickets for only 19.
Moody had a tweet for the star of the match as well, where he said, “Special performance from Rashid Khan tonight, big game player!”
Rashid and his spin have been a cause of a headache for all the other teams in the IPL. He created enough trouble for CSK as well in the first qualifier, even though they ended up losing the match. It’s only a couple of day’s wait to find out if he could pull off the same performance against the two-time champions in the final on Sunday.
