<p>Dean Jones is counted as one of the most successful batsmen in the ODI format. He was a fearless batsman who would walk down the pitch to hit the fast bowlers. When on the pitch, he was always a busy batsman who never missed an opportunity to steal quick singles. He reached the milestone of 6000 runs in 157 innings. Jones is currently the 8th fastest player to reach 6000 runs.</p>

<p>Brian Lara was known for his massive run scoring ability. He was a batting genius with natural counter-aggressive batting flair which was perfectly suitable for ODI format. He played 299 ODIs for West Indies and amassed over 10, 000 runs. He reached 6,000 runs in 155 innings and is the 7th fastest batsman to reach this milestone.</p>

<p>The Matthew Hayden is regarded as one of the most explosive openers for Australia has ever had. The powerful left-hander scored 6,133 runs in his ODI career in which he began in the year 1993. He reached 6000 runs landmark in his 154 innings and is the 6th fastest batsman to do so.</p>

<p>Sourav Ganguly is counted as one of the best ODI batsmen of all-time. He was known as the &#8216;God of Off-side. He was not only a tough and inspiring leader but was also a fantastic stroke player. Ganguly took 147 innings to score 6000 runs. He achieved this feat against Pakistan at Sharjah.</p>

<p>Vivian Richards is known as &#8216;King Richards&#8217; for a reason. He was arguably the most brutal batsman in the ODI format. The charismatic Richards bullied the bowlers with his audacious batting. Perhaps, one of the few batsmen who could make the bowler standing at the other end feel nervous. He pummelled the bowlers for sixes and boundaries with ease. It took Richards 141 innings to reach 6000 runs. He was the fastest to reach this milestone until Virat Kohli broke his record.</p>

<p>Virat Kohli is the best Indian batsman across all formats for India. He is a perfect example of a batsman full of self-belief, determination and hunger for run scoring. He is currently the vice-captain of India ODI team and has also captained on a few occasions. Virat Kohli took just 136 innings to reach the  6000 run landmark.</p>

<p>South Africa found a reliable, concrete and coherent opener in Hashim Mohammad Amla. A right-hand batsman Amla is one of the coolest openers we have seen in ODI cricket. In the era where rash shots and big hitting is the trend he continues to be a conventional stroke maker and that is how he gets his runs. Amla has appeared in 123 innings for the Proteas and has completed 6000 ODI runs, he now also holds the record for being the batsman fastest to 6000 ODI runs, beating Virat Kohli&#8217;s record. He has been chasing and beating Kohli in the fastest record list since 2000 runs. Amla has also struck 21 hundreds in his career thus far along with 28 half-centuries.</p>
