Allan Lamb was a South African born English player. He moved to England in hopes of an international career due to the ban on South Africa due to apartheid.

Lamb started playing for the English county Northamptonshire in 1978 after making his first class debut with the Western Province in 1972 and made his England debut in 1982. A middle order batsman and occasional medium pacer, Lamb became an integral part of the English outfit because of his attacking batting.

Allan Lamb is famous for making 17 runs single-handedly against Australia to win the match in 1986-87 triseries match.
