Jacques Kallis (South Africa) 485 runs – 2007 World Cup ( Photo Source: Zimbio) The South African great Jacques Kallis stamped his authority on the 2007 World cup with 485 runs at the average of 80.33. Kallis along with AB de Villiers and Graeme Smith lead South Africa into the knockout phase of the tournament, where they were knocked out by Australia in the semi-finals in a very one sided affair. 9. Scott Styris (New Zealand) 499 runs – 2007 World Cup (Photo Source: AFP) The Kiwi all-rounder Scott Styris turned out to be the surprise package of the ill organised 2007 World cup. He scored 499 runs at an average of 83.16 with 1 century (111*) against Sri Lanka in Super Eights, top scoring for New Zealand who reached yet another world cup semi-final only to lose to Sri Lanka. Styris also picked up 9 wickets with a best of 4/43 in the tournament. 8. He scored exactly 500 runs at an average of 62.50 with 2 centuries and a highest score of 144 against Zimbabwe. Dilshan and Mahela Jayawardene were instrumental with support from Kumar Sangakkara and Upul Tharanga in getting Sri Lanka into the finals against India. 7. He averaged 85.87 in the series and scored his runs with a strike rate of almost 86 runs per 100 balls. Sachin hit 2 centuries, 137 against Sri Lanka in Delhi in a losing cause and 127 against Kenya. He also scored a valiant 90 against Australia and 65 against Sri Lanka in the ill-fated semi-final at Eden Gardens. He captained Sri Lanka to their second world cup final after the 1996 triumph, but was defeated by Australia in the final. Jayawardene tried his best to win the world cup, but Australia was just better on the day of the finals. Mahela Jayawardene also played in the 2011 World cup final, scoring a magnificent century in yet another losing effort. 2.
