Mahela Jayawardene was the second highest run getter in the 2007 World cup with his 548 runs at an average of 60.88 and 1 hundred and 4 fifties.
He captained Sri Lanka to their second world cup final after the 1996 triumph, but was defeated by Australia in the final. Jayawardene tried his best to win the world cup, but Australia was just better on the day of the finals.
Mahela Jayawardene also played in the 2011 World cup final, scoring a magnificent century in yet another losing effort.
