He came good on the night of finals as well when he smashed 76 off 38 balls with 8 sixes to his name. <p>Kolkata Knight Riders all-rounder Andre Russell was phenomenal for his side in the early stages. He formed a dominating pair with Yusuf Pathan in the middle order and finished matches for his team. The most notable one came against Royal Challengers Bangalore when he came out of nowhere to score 39 off 19 balls to take KKR home. Russell hit <strong>15 sixes</strong> in the 12 matches that he played in this IPL. Had he not injured himself towards the business end of the tournament, he would have surely been higher on the ladder.</p>

<p>The six hitting machine from Mumbai Indians, Kieron Pollard wasn’t far behind. He hit <strong>16 sixes</strong> in the 13 matches that he played. 6 of those sixes came during his unbeaten knock of 51 off 19 balls against the Kolkata Knight Riders. Pollard had a strike rate of 143.75 in the tournament. He amassed 207 runs in this edition of the IPL.</p>

<p>Dwayne Smith did not make it to the playing XI of the Gujarat Lions straightaway. However, with Aaron Finch getting injured, he finally had his opening. Smith announced his arrival with a half century and soon became a regular member of the side. With <strong>16 sixes</strong> in 12 matches, the West Indian was the joint leading six-hitter for the Lions. Smith hit 324 runs in the 12 matches that he played at a strike rate of 146.6.</p>

<p>The Gujarat Lions opener Brendon McCullum showed that despite retiring from international cricket, he still has it in him to clear the ropes with ease. McCullum mustered 354 runs in the tournament in 16 matches. With <strong>16 sixes</strong> to his name, he surely cleared the long boundaries. McCullum forged handy partnerships with Dwayne Smith and Aaron Finch. His exploits at the top often saw the Lions post in excess of 70 runs in the powerplays.</p>

<p>Lokesh Rahul was one of the biggest finds for the Royal Challengers Bangalore this season. He had been on the fringes for long time but was tagged as a Test player. However, this season, Lokesh Rahul showed that he can adapt to the shortest format as well. He hit <strong>16 sixes</strong> in the tournament in the 14 matches that he featured in. He had 4 half centuries to his name in the season and was also rewarded with a national team call-up midway through the tournament.</p>

<p>Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma was in great tough and led from the front, particularly in the run chases. He hit <strong>16 sixes</strong> in 14 matches to accompany the 49 boundaries he hit. Rohit was influential for his team and scored in excess of fifty on five occasions with the top score of unbeaten 85. His overall aggregate of 489 runs saw him bat with an average of 44.45. Clearly, the Mumbai opener was in great touch this season.</p>

<p>When you talk about the sixes you need to have the big Jamaican in the list. Chris Gayle, the renowned six hitting machine, hammered <strong>21 sixes</strong> in the tournament. He came good on the night of finals as well when he smashed 76 off 38 balls with 8 sixes to his name. He missed out on a century this season, but Gayle surely rose to the occasion in a couple of matches. He scored 227 runs in 10 matches and had a strike rate of 151.42.</p>

<p>The Sunrisers Hyderabad skipper David Warner led from the front to take his side to a tournament triumph. With 848 runs this season, he was one of the top performers this season. He hit <strong>31 towering maximums </strong>in 17 matches. With 3 scores in the 90s in the season, Warner hit the ball long and clean. The Australian scored 9 half centuries in the season. He also hit the most number of fours in the season with 88 fours to his name.</p>

<p>The superman from South Africa came good for the Royal Challengers Bangalore this season as well. AB lit the season with a brilliant 129* against the Gujarat Lions and there was no stopping after that. He hit as many as <strong>37 sixes</strong> in the 16 matches he played. He occupied a crucial role in taking Royal Challengers Bangalore to the finals when he singlehandedly won the match against Gujarat Lions in the Qualifier 1 after RCB were struggling at 29/5. AB de Villiers had the best strike rate among players who hit more than 400 runs in the tournament, that of 168.79.</p>
