Former Sri Lankan captain and the mainstay of their batting, Mahela Jayawardene retired from Test cricket just before the ICC World Cup 2015 with 34 centuries in 149 Tests with 11,814 runs with the highest score of 374 against South Africa in 2006. Jayawardene also captained Sri Lanka from 2006-2013 in 38 Test matches. His record of most first-class centuries (51) was broken by compatriot Kumar Sangakkara.
