Dean Elgar became the 6th South African batsman and the 50th player in the world to carry his bat through an innings. Elgar came out to bat on day three of the first Test against England in the 1st Test at Durban in 2015; he was unmoved till the fall of the last Proteas wicket playing 246 deliveries and spending 386 minutes at the crease. He finished unbeaten at 118 after South Africa were bowled out for just 214. His knock was laced with 8 fours and 1 six. Though he put up a valiant effort it proved insufficient as the visitors beat them by 241 runs.
