<p>The Pakistani batting great Javed Miandad was one of the most flamboyant batsmen in the history of Pakistan cricket. Miandad was very severe on the spinners and the way he used his feet trembled even the best spinners of the world. <p>Making centuries is one thing and converting it into big hundreds is a different art. But this man was even beyond these things as he not only notched up big scores but also made them at a breath-taking rate to sway away the opponents completely. Viru had a simple philosophy and that was to attack. In his textbook of cricket if there is a delivery under his radar, he wouldn&#8217;t think twice smacking the very first ball of the Test match. Sehwag played 104 Test matches and smashed 8,586 runs at a healthy average of 49.34 with 6 double-tons.</p>

<p>The former Sri Lankan skipper Marvan Atapattu might not be the best sight on the 22 yards as far as style and elegance is concerned. But if there was one thing which made him a class apart was his efficiency with the bat which reaped fruits for the Lankan lions more often than not. Once he got in, he had the ability to bat for long hours and stood like a burly pillar for his side. Marvan played 90 Test matches and aggregated 5,502 runs with 16 centuries. Out of 16 centuries, Marvan converted 6 of them into double-centuries.</p>

<p>The Sri Lankan legend Mahela Jayawardene was the face of class, elegance and graciousness. In the later part of his career he added improvisation to his game as well which aided in the expansion of his run-scoring ways. His late cuts and cover-drives oozed a different class altogether. Apart from featuring in the highest partnership for any wicket in Tests, Jayawardene also holds the record for the highest individual score of 374 runs by a Sri Lankan player. Mahela represented his country in 149 Test matches and stroked 11,814 runs with 34 centuries and 7 double-tons.</p>

<p>One of the greatest batters in the history of cricket, Wally Hammond was a gem of a player and amassed 7,249 runs at an average of 58.45 with 22 centuries and 7 double-tons. His highest Test score being 336 and is also the batsman with second highest average in this list. But the stand-out feature about Hammond&#8217;s batting was the kind of majestic and jaw-dropping strokes, he pulled off and with relative ease. At a time when aerial shots were not in the trend, his fearlessness allowed him to play beautiful lofted strokes.</p>
<h4><strong>3. Brian Lara (West Indies) &#8211; 9:</strong></h4>

<p>West Indies legendary cricketer Brian Charles Lara is regarded as one of the most enthralling batsmen the cricket world has ever seen. Though he was never considered as talented as Mahela Jayawardene and Aravinda de Silva but it was his unmatched efficiency and consistency all the years which not only made him the greatest Sri Lankan batsman but also one of the best in the world of cricket. Sanga featured in 134 Tests and scored 12,400 runs at an impeccable average of 57.40 with 38 centuries to his credit.</p>
