<p>Graeme Smith is perhaps South Africa’s most successful captain till date. Smith was one of the best openers in the world during his playing days. The burden of captaincy did not affect his batting as he went on to become their most consistent and dependable opener. Smith has contributed over 9,000 runs for the Proteas at the Test level. <p>Kumara Sangakkara is the classiest left-hander to have ever played for the Lankans. Perfect batting technique and sensible brain combined with abundant run scoring ability made him a legend. His cover drive was a treat to watch for the eyes. Sanga scored 12,400 runs at an average of over 57 in Tests. He was involved in many victories for Sri Lanka. Out of the 38 matches Sri Lanka won while he was a part of the team, it has been on 19 occasions that Sangakkara had scored a century in victorious matches.</p>

<p>Sachin Tendulkar is the greatest of the modern era. He has his name registered in almost every list of batting records. Tendulkar carried the hoped of an ambitious cricketing nation for over two and half decades. The batting genius played 200 Tests for India and plundered close to 16,000 runs. He featured in 72 victorious outing for India and has scored 20 centuries out of his 51 Test centuries in a winning cause.</p>

<p>Jacques Kallis is the most complete cricketer to have ever played the game after Sir Gary Sobers. Kallis was the backbone of the South African batting line-up for more than a decade. Kallis amassed 13,289 runs with the bat and had 292 wickets to his credit in Tests. He scored a staggering 45 centuries in his career. He was on the winning side on 82 occasions and scored 6379 runs overall in them which include 22 brilliant centuries.</p>

<p>The burly left-hander was one of the most destructive opening pairs the cricketing world has ever seen. Matthew Hayden was a giant, both on the field and in the record books. ‘Haydo’ played 71 matches wherein Australia emerged on the winning side. He scored 23 centuries in those matches. His record-breaking knock 380 against Zimbabwe was his best performance.</p>

<p>No batsman in the history of this game prized his wicket more than Donald Bradman. Bradman holds some breathtaking batting records (some of which may stand forever). He was immortal as a batsman. Don scored 29 centuries in his relatively short career of 52 Tests. Out these magnificent hundreds, 23 came in victorious matches. Bradman featured in 30 &#8216;won&#8217; matches for Australia and plundered 4813 runs at a whopping average of 130.08.</p>
