India won their first match in 1975 World cup against East Africa by 10 wickets and 181 balls remaining in a 60 overs per innings match.
Jawahir Shah top scored with 37 in a total of 120 and Madan Lal took 3/15 in his 9 overs and Bishen Singh Bedi returned the figures of 12-8-6-1. India made the total in 29.5 overs with Gavaskar making 65* and Farokh Engineer making 54*.
It was the first 10 wicket win in ODI and World Cup history.
