The first ever day-night Test at Adelaide between Australia and New Zealand was overwhelmingly successful. The red ball was replaced by the pink ball and the experiment of playing Test cricket under floodlights was loved by the spectators. A crowd of 47,000 people turned out at Adelaide Oval on day one. Australia at the end won by 3 wickets which seemed nerve-wracking in the end. In a format which is losing interest among the viewers and raising questions about its future, this was a roaring success. Even the television ratings worldwide were phenomenal as it attained global focus. Innovation is always a welcome sight in any field and we might just see more of day-night Test cricket over the coming years.
