7. Shivnarine Chanderpaul (WI) 150 v South Africa, East London 1999
No one thought Shivnarine Chanderpaul could succeed as an opener, when he was asked to open against South Africa in 1999 series. But in the second match of the series, he scored his career best 150 in just 136 balls. He hit 20 fours in that innings and added an invaluable 226 runs with Carl Hooper (108) and made 292/9. Shaun Pollock took 6/35 in West Indies innings.
South Africa could only muster 249 runs and lost despite a good attempt from Jacques Kallis (51) and Mark Boucher (51).
