Sachin Tendulkar opened with Rahul Dravid in the 3<sup>rd</sup> ODI against Australia at the Nehru stadium in 2001, Indore. Tendulkar had always had a liking for the Australian bowling attack and he proved it once again by hitting a match-winning knock of 139. His knock comprised of 19 boundaries. India were batting first and although his opening partner Dravid departed early, Tendulkar batted together with VVS Laxman for a 199 runs partnership which laid the platform for a challenging total on the scoreboard. MS Dhoni has been a savior for India on many occasions and this innings is just another example of it. It was the 3rd ODI of the home series in 2013. India was batting first at Mohali after being put into bat by George Bailey. The start wasn’t good and India found themselves standing at 76/4. The next man in was MS Dhoni, who in his trademark style rescued India with a breezy century. He took India past the 300 runs mark almost single-handedly after he found some support from Virat Kohli and R Ashwin in the latter stages of the innings. His match-turning innings featured 12 fours and 5 massive hits over the fence. However, his performance went in vain as the Australians chased down the target with four wickets to spare.

This knock came at probably the most important India v Australia game. Ricky Ponting and his team were just one step away from lifting their third World Cup. Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly won the todd of the 2003 World cup finals at Johannesburg and asked the Aussies to bat first. Gilchrist and Hayden gave Australia the perfect start. This was a captain’s knock by George Bailey. Bailey was already having a remarkable tour and made it, even more memorable by slamming his career-best ODI innings of 156 off 139 balls against India at Nagpur in 2013. He came in to bat at number four and batted brutally also stitching a 158-run stand with Shane Watson. He then did the rest of the damage in the last ten overs with Adam Voges to propel Australia to an intimidating 350/6 after 50 overs. Rohit Sharma proved his dominance in the limited overs format once after he smashed an unbeaten 171 at the WACA, Perth. Sharma opened the innings with Shikhar Dhawan but Dhawan soon departed. This was one the most thrilling knocks Sachin Tendulkar has ever played in his ODI career. Australia had put up a daunting target of 351 for India to chase after batting first at Hyderabad in the year 2009. Tendulkar opened the innings and batted almost till the end of the chase. On November 4, 2013, the Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangalore saw an absolute carnage in the form of Rohit Sharma’s 209 from 158 balls. Sharma opened the innings and just like most of his stupendous knocks ended up playing till the end of the innings. The special thing about this knock was the pace at which he scored. <p>Sachin Tendulkar opened with Rahul Dravid in the 3<sup>rd</sup> ODI against Australia at the Nehru stadium in 2001, Indore. Tendulkar had always had a liking for the Australian bowling attack and he proved it once again by hitting a match-winning knock of 139. His knock comprised of 19 boundaries. India were batting first and although his opening partner Dravid departed early, Tendulkar batted together with VVS Laxman for a 199 runs partnership which laid the platform for a challenging total on the scoreboard. India was batting first at Mohali after being put into bat by George Bailey. The start wasn’t good and India found themselves standing at 76/4. The next man in was MS Dhoni, who in his trademark style rescued India with a breezy century. He took India past the 300 runs mark almost single-handedly after he found some support from Virat Kohli and R Ashwin in the latter stages of the innings. Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly won the todd of the 2003 World cup finals at Johannesburg and asked the Aussies to bat first. Gilchrist and Hayden gave Australia the perfect start. <p>It was one of the classiest innings played by an individual in an India-Australia match. the occasion was the ICC Champions Trophy in 1998 and India faced Australia in the quarterfinal of the tournament at Dhaka. The Indians had a bad start as they lost opener Ganguly and Azharuddin in back to back overs early on. However, it was Sachin Tendulkar’s day. <p>India had an uphill task in front of them when Australia, after choosing to bat first in the 2nd ODI, put up a giant total of 359/5 at the Sawai Man Singh Stadium, Jaipur in 2013. However, the chase was made to look very uncompetitive as Indian top order displayed one of the most dominating batting display. Openers Shikhar Dhawan (95) was the aggressor in the outstanding opening partnership of 176 runs with Rohit Sharma. Sharma then combined with Virat Kohli and chased down the target with ease. The match did not particularly belong to Rohit Sharma but he batted from start till the end for his 141 runs off 123 balls and allowed India to knock off the mammoth target against Australia for the first time and rewrite countless records.</p>

India needed to score 285 to win the match and 254 to qualify for the final of the Coca-Cola cup in the year 1998.
