Shane Watson was in a completely destructive mood when he came out to bat against India in the 3rd T20I at the SCG. Watson, who was the stand-in skipper that match, led by example and slammed a record breaking 124* off just 71 deliveries. Australia won the toss and went into bat after winning the toss. Watson and Khawaja opened the innings but the latter departed quickly. However, Watson soon began to unleash his range of strokes and began to muscle the Indian bowlers. Watto whacked 10 fours and 6 sixes in his aggressive knock and powered the Aussies to a formidable 197/5 after 20 overs. However, his efforts went in vain as India managed to chase down the target and win the match by 7 wickets eventually.
