Batting first against Sri Lanka at home in Dunedin, New Zealand were bogged down at a score of 93/5 in 20 overs. Smashing opener BAZZ (Brendon McCullum) features in the list of highest partnerships with his partner James Marshall. The Kiwi opening pair scored 274 runs in 42.2 overs against Ireland. McCullum contributed with 166 runs in the partnership. While Marshall scored 161 runs in the match continuing the innings with Ross Taylor. Batting first, the huge opening partnership helped New Zealand post a total of 402 runs in 50 overs which they defended quite easily against Ireland.
<h4>7. Mohammed Azharuddin – Ajay Jadeja (India): 275* runs for 4th wicket:</h4>
The partnership of 275 runs between Azharuddin and Jadeja is 6th highest partnership in ODI history. Not only that, the partnership is also the top unbeaten partnership in ODI history. India lost 3 early wickets batting first against Zimbabwe at Cuttack. The pair batted for the 4th wicket and went on to score a huge unbeaten partnership in 41.3 overs. India posted a score of 301 runs in 50 overs and won the match.
<h4>6. Upul Tharanga – Tillakaratne Dilshan (Sri Lanka): 282 runs for 1st wicket:</h4>

Tharanga and Dilshan opened the innings against Zimbabwe batting first at the Pallekele stadium in Sri Lanka. This was the group stage match of the ICC World Cup 2011 played in the subcontinent. The duo smashed 282 runs in 44.4 overs when Upul Tharanga got out. Tharanga score 133 runs in 141 balls whereas aggressor Dilshan scored 139 in 128 deliveries in the partnership.

One of the most destructive Australian batsman, David Warner with his new opening partner Travis Head formed a great first wicket partnership. The duo together scored 284 runs against Pakistan in the 5th ODI of the series in 2017. Warner tallied 179 runs while Head on the other end scored 128 in that partnership.

<h4>4. Upul Tharanga – Sanath Jayasuriya (Sri Lanka): 286 runs for 1st wicket:</h4>

This is the highest 1st wicket partnership on ODI history. The destructive pair of Sanath Jayasuriya and Upul Tharanga scored 286 runs in 199 balls while opening the innings against England at Leeds. Tharanga features once again in the list. Sanath scored 152 in 97 balls whereas Tharanga contributed with 109 runs in 102 balls in the partnership. Chasing a mammoth total of 321 runs posted by England, the partnership ensured an easy victory for Lanka.
<h4>3. Sourav Ganguly – Rahul Dravid (India): 318 runs for 2nd wicket:</h4>

The two Indian veterans Sourav Ganguly and Rahul Dravid scored 318 runs for 2nd wicket partnership against Sri Lanka in the ICC world cup 1999 in England. In a must win match against Sri Lanka, the duo ensured a comfortable victory for India. The partnership of 318 runs came off in 275 balls. In the partnership Sourav contributed with 157 runs off 146 balls whereas Dravid played a knock of 145 in just 129 deliveries. This is the third only 300+ stand in ODI cricket history.

The two stalwarts of Indian Cricket and arguably the two greats of the world cricket, Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar and The Wall Rahul Dravid are 2nd in the list. Rahul Dravid is involved in two 300+ partnership stands in ODIs. The partnership of 331 runs was achieved in just 46.2 overs at Hyderabad against New Zealand way back in 1999. The partnership ended at the fall of Rahul Dravid who was batting on 153 runs. Tendulkar scored 183 runs in the match. India went on to win the match comfortably.

This feat would be in the memories of all the cricket fans when the duo smashed Zimbabwean bowlers in the group match of the ICC world cup 2015 in Australia. Gayle storm was upbeat and he went on to score a double ton in the match becoming the first West Indian and the only non-Indian to achieve this landmark. Gayle and Samuels together scored 372 runs in 49.4 overs for the 2nd wicket. Gayle notched 215 runs in 147 balls whereas Marlon scored 133 in 156 deliveries. The partnership could have remained unbeaten but Gayle faltered on the very last ball of the innings.
