The 3rd match of Group C during the 2009 edition saw Chris Gayle (88 from 50 balls) and Andre Fletcher (53 from 32 balls) put together a breathtaking opening wicket partnership to help their team chase down the challenging 170 runs target set by Australia with 7 wickets in hand. The duo batted for 11.3 overs and heaped 133 runs laced with 13 fours and 7 sixes to single-handedly win the match for West Indies. Batting first, Australia had a bad start to the game after losing the first three wickets for just 15 runs. However, the Kangaroos eventually managed to get 169/7 in 20 overs with the help of David Warner’s 53-ball 63 runs knock and valuable innings from Brad Haddin (24 from 19 balls), David Hussey (27 from 16 balls) and Michael Hussey (28 from 15 balls) in the lower order.
