England decided to make Sri Lanka bat first after winning the toss the 22nd match of Group 1 in the World T20 2014. Jade Dernbach brought them an early breakthrough with wicket the of Kusal Perera. However, Tillakaratne Dilshan (55 from 47 balls) and Mahela Jayawardene (89 from 51 balls) then stitched a giant partnership of 145 runs and helped the Lankan Lions reach a challenging 189/4 in 20 overs. England, in reply, did not have a great start as they lost Michael Lumb and Moeen Ali in the 1st over itself. But, the match witnessed yet another big stand of 150 runs which came between Alex Hales (116 from 64 balls) and Eoin Morgan (57 from 38 balls). This stand enabled the English team chased down the target without any hassle with 6 wickets and 4 balls to spare.
