Australia-Pakistan is one of the most epic matches to have taken place in the World T20. It was a crucial 2nd semi-final of the 2010 edition. Pakistan, after being put into bat by the Aussies, piled on 191/6 in 20 overs with the help of half-centuries from Kamran Akmal (50 from 34 balls) and Umar Akmal (56 from 35 balls). Australia began badly, losing Warner in the 1st over to Mohammad Amir. The Australians weren’t able to set off at any stage and the game was sliding out of their favor. The second highest chase ever seen in a World T20 match happened in the inaugural edition of the World T20 in 2007. The West Indies v South Africa clash saw a fine display of explosive batting from both the sides. The 1st innings witnessed West Indies opener Chris Gayle smash a 57-ball 117 runs knock to power West Indies to a highly formidable total of 205/6 in 20 overs after the Proteas chose to field first after winning the toss. The hosts of the tournament, South Africa, did not seem to be intimidated by the total. The Proteas, who had chased down a world record target of 434 in ODIs, just over a year ago before this match, put on another marvelous effort and chased down the 206-run target with 8 wickets in hand. Ireland put up 189/4 with the help of brilliant efforts from the top order with Andre Poynter (57 from 38 balls) top scoring for the Irish. The Dutch, in reply, looked in a brutal mood and chased down the target with 6 wickets in hands and a whopping 6.1 overs to spare! The unreal looking numbers became a possibility because of some blistering batting performances from opener Stephen Myburgh (63 from 23 balls), skipper Peter Borren (31 from 15 balls), Tom Copper (45 from 15 balls) and the unbeaten 40 runs from just 22 balls. <p>Australia-Pakistan is one of the most epic matches to have taken place in the World T20. It was a crucial 2nd semi-final of the 2010 edition. Pakistan, after being put into bat by the Aussies, piled on 191/6 in 20 overs with the help of half-centuries from Kamran Akmal (50 from 34 balls) and Umar Akmal (56 from 35 balls). Australia began badly, losing Warner in the 1st over to Mohammad Amir. The Australians weren’t able to set off at any stage and the game was sliding out of their favor. But, Mike Hussey, who was batting brilliantly from one end, kept the hopes alive. The game came down to 18 runs from the last six balls for the Australians to win. Ajmal was the man with the ball in his hand while Mr. Cricket held the strike. Hussey was unbothered of the wily off-spinner as he crunched 3 sixes and a four, helping his side complete a dramatic chase with one ball to spare.</p>

<p>The second highest chase ever seen in a World T20 match happened in the inaugural edition of the World T20 in 2007. The West Indies v South Africa clash saw a fine display of explosive batting from both the sides. The 1st innings witnessed West Indies opener Chris Gayle smash a 57-ball 117 runs knock to power West Indies to a highly formidable total of 205/6 in 20 overs after the Proteas chose to field first after winning the toss. The Proteas, who had chased down a world record target of 434 in ODIs, just over a year ago before this match, put on another marvelous effort and chased down the 206-run target with 8&nbsp;wickets in hand. The star of the chase was Herschelle Gibbs (90 from 55 balls) while Justin Kemp (46 from 22 balls) played the supporting role.</p>

<p>England had a pretty bad first half after conceding a mammoth 229/4 in 20 overs against South Africa in the Group 1 Super 10 league match of the World T20 2016 at the Wankhede, Mumbai. The England batsmen, however, didn’t take the pressure despite having a gigantic target to chase and showed great amount of intent and determination to chase down the colossal target astonishment everyone. Jason Roy (43 from 16 balls) and Alex Hales (17 from 7 balls) gave a crackling start to the innings smashing Kagiso Rabada and Dale Steyn merciless before hales lost his wicket to Kyle Abbott in the 3rd of the match. Roy and Ben Stokes then departed in consecutive overs. Skipper Eoin Morgan also could not do anything significant. However, Joe Root (83 from 44 balls) was unbothered and ransacked the Protea bowlers to see his team steps away from the win. Moeen Ali completed the formalities steering his team past the finishing line with two balls and two wickets to spare.</p>

Quickfire knocks from Mohammad Ashraful (62 from 49 balls) and Aftab Ahmed (61 from 27 balls) saw Bangladesh cruise past West Indies by 6 wickets in the Group A match in 2007. Chasing the target of 165 runs to win, Ashraful and Ahmed stunned the Windies bowlers with their aggressive batting to single-handedly win the game. Earlier, West Indies, after losing Chris Gayle early in the 1st over, reached a commendable total; with the help of a cautious 51-run from 52 balls by Dwayne Smith. Shivnarine Chanderpaul (37 from 31balls) and Marlon Samuels (27 from 14 balls) played vital supporting knocks whereas Dwayne Bravo pumped the run rate high in the final stage of the inning with his explosive cameo of 27 from just 7 balls.</p>

<p>The 3<sup>rd</sup> match of Group C during the 2009 edition saw Chris Gayle (88 from 50 balls) and Andre Fletcher (53 from 32 balls) put together a breathtaking opening wicket partnership to help their team chase down the challenging 170 runs target set by Australia with 7 wickets in hand. The duo batted for 11.3 overs and heaped 133 runs laced with 13 fours and 7 sixes to single-handedly win the match for West Indies. Batting first, Australia had a bad start to the game after losing the first three wickets for just 15 runs. However, the Kangaroos eventually managed to get 169/7 in 20 overs with the help of David Warner’s 53-ball 63 runs knock and valuable innings from Brad Haddin (24 from 19 balls), David Hussey (27 from 16 balls) and Michael Hussey (28 from 15 balls) in the lower order.</p>

<p>The second semi-final of the World T20 2014 between South Africa and India was an high-scoring affair where the Men in Blue prevailed with the help of Virat Kohli’s match-winning knock. South Africa had an average start after going into bat first. They lost Quinton de Kock and Hashim Amla quickly but the run rate was very good. Faf du Plessis (58 from 41 balls) and JP Duminy (45 from 40 balls) then batted sturdily and took the Proteas to a good position before David Miller (23 from 12 balls) gave the final thrust to the team total, taking it to 172/4 after 20 overs. India, In reply, began explosively but lost Rohit Sharma early. Then came Virat Kohli (72 from 44 balls) and changed the course of the match batting along with Ajinkya Rahane and Yuvraj Singh. India eventually chased down the target easily in 19.1 overs with Kohli remaining unconquered.</p>

<p>Bangladesh batsmen had a wonderful day with the bat as they successfully took down the Pakistan bowling attack comprising of the likes of Sohail Tanvir, Umar Gul and Saeed Ajmal to post 175/6 in 20 overs during the Group D match in 2012. Star all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan, who came in at No.3, was the chief architect of the innings with his spectacular 84 from 54 balls. Coming in to chase, Pakistan openers Mohammad Hafeez (45 from 47 balls) and Imran Nazir (72 from 26 balls) took the target bit seriously and piled on a blazing 124 runs stand in just 13.3 overs to knock out Bangladesh out of the game. Unfortunately, both of them departed in the 14th over. Nasir Jamshed and Kamran Akmal finished the easy job of getting the remaining runs with Pakistan winning the match by 8 wickets.</p>

None of the Aussie batsmen could do anything majorly significant with the bat but Glenn Maxwell (45 from 22) and Brad Hodge (35 from 26 balls) along with valuable cameos from the lower order batsmen eventually propelled the team to a worthy target of 179 runs for the opposition to chase. The Caribbean Kings began with a bang in reply. Chris Gayle (53 from 35 balls) struck a fine half-century. Gayle’s innings formed the backbone of the chase. The game was kept alive by Doug Bollinger and Mitchell Starc who struck during the middle over.
