The second highest chase ever seen in a World T20 match happened in the inaugural edition of the World T20 in 2007. The West Indies v South Africa clash saw a fine display of explosive batting from both the sides. The 1st innings witnessed West Indies opener Chris Gayle smash a 57-ball 117 runs knock to power West Indies to a highly formidable total of 205/6 in 20 overs after the Proteas chose to field first after winning the toss. The hosts of the tournament, South Africa, did not seem to be intimidated by the total. The Proteas, who had chased down a world record target of 434 in ODIs, just over a year ago before this match, put on another marvelous effort and chased down the 206-run target with 8 wickets in hand. The star of the chase was Herschelle Gibbs (90 from 55 balls) while Justin Kemp (46 from 22 balls) played the supporting role.
